As broken by Gary Will, Google is Coming to Waterloo in the form of a buy-out of Reqwireless, a local wireless software development company. Mark Evans of Financial Post fame wrote an excellent article of it, and mentions it in his blog.
"From what I can tell, Reqwireless makes wireless browser and e-mail software, although its Web site says they are no longer available for sale. As for what it means for Google's wireless plans, perhaps the company isn't content to just have its search engine ported to the wireless world - maybe it wants to take on browser?makers such as?AvantGo, and e-mail makers such as Nokia, Good and RIM."
Either way, this should be an interesting story to watch. Waterloo has it's share of business icons (with companies such as Rim and Sybase etc.) however not with Google's world-renoun. This'll be great for Communitech's recruitment initiative...as long as Google actually brands it as a Google office.
